The Australian’s Foreign Editor Greg Sheridan says killing the Australian gas industry provides “massive strategic leverage” to Russia and some in the Middle East.
“There’s been a great deal of incoherence in the West, exposed by what’s happened in Russia,” Mr Sheridan told Sky News Australia.
“In the end, long term, you cannot allow Russia, Iran, the Gulf Arabs, and indeed China to have so much power because they are absolutely unconstrained in producing oil and gas and coal.”
