Independent Senator Rex Patrick says there is no question the French “let Australia down” when it comes to the $90 billion submarine program which was scrapped. “The French are probably rightfully disturbed that they didn’t get given notice,” he told Sky News host Peta Credlin. “
But there’s no question that the French have let Australia down in relation to this program. “It went from $50 billion to a $90 billion program. It was delayed – the last two milestones were 10 and eight months respectively late. “We weren’t meeting expectations in relation to Australian industry content and it’s not clear we were going to get a regionally superior submarine, which is what we contacted for.
