Alarming numbers from Statistics Canada show the number of hate crimes reported to police soared during the first year of the pandemic. The government agency says police-reported hate crimes increased by 37 per cent during the first year of the pandemic, and those targeting Eastern or Southeast Asian people went up a staggering 301 per cent.
