Australia initiates legal action against Russia over MH17

Australia News

Australia and the Netherlands have initiated legal proceedings against Russia over the downing of Malaysian Airlines Flight 17.

The case, which will be heard in the International Civil Aviation Organization, will aim to hold the Russian state accountable for actions which led to the deaths of all 298 people on board.

Sky News host Peta Credlin says the incident – which occurred over Ukraine in July 2014 and killed 38 Australians – was “barbaric”.

“Let’s just hope and pray, we are now one step closer to justice for the victims, and their families,” she said.
